I am sure everyone is! haha I am sure it has been a great year full of triumphs, achievements but also filled with challenges. And....everyone needs a break! As summer approaches, we start to think about summer activities. This writing lesson will prompt your students to think of what they are looking forward to doing over the summer. Guide students through the writing process and then display their work into a fun owl themed display that all whoooooooo see it will enjoy!

Everyone does NOT enjoy making bulletin board displays, but I have always LOVED that part of teaching! I could sling a glue gun with the best of them back in the day when we glued everything to the walls! haha Now, we adhere with a bit more of a delicate touch....maybe. ;)

Lessons and food go together like PB & J! Add food and you are sure to get students attention! ;) I love to make learning purposeful, meaningful, fun and memorable and this lesson will fit the bill! Engage students in a fun math & writing lesson or unit (you decide whether to use for 1 day or 1-2 weeks) and then display the end product of Cinco de Mayo menus for all to see! You could even invite in a guest speaker of the hispanic heritage to give the students first-hand insight! I am sure you and your students will have a celebration of a time learning about Cinco de Mayo and using math and writing skills to create a Cinco de Mayo menu with this easy to follow lesson plan and accompanying slides I created to make your life as a teacher just a little bit easer.

I had an administrator once note that "Leslie has a song for everything!" As my youngest daughter used to say, "Singing makes me happy!" Helping students select books at their indepdendent reading levels, or as we like to call them "Just Right Books" can be a challenge. I wrote a song, with the help of my youngest daughter, to help students remember how to select a "Just Right Book." I even recorded an MP3 file for the song at the request of a Teachers Pay Teachers customer and it is available on my TPT store! I am not a pro singer or a musician, but I do have a small recording studio, so voila! I hope you will check out my "How to Pick a Just Right Book" BUNDLE that includes my original song and accompanying Mp3, PDF, and SMARTboard file and sing away with your students! ....Because learning can be fun! :) See it here!
